Introduction
All Desk Plates and Name Badges made by Trans Stamp are laser engraved on high quality plastic unless mechanical engraving is requested. We do not do sublimation, because in our opinion it does not provide the quality or look of engraving. Engraved content does not wear off, does not become illegible due to scratch marks or fading. We do, upon request make a color printed badge with a clear cover to protect the pring.  It is printed on a single color platic and can include bar codes and pictures for ID badges

All signage can be customized to fit your needs as to shape size and engraved wording. Any image which is recognizable in a black and white format can be engraved on these items as long as a clean image is available for scanning into the computer.

Desk Plates and Name Badges are normally made in one of three ways:

1. Mechanical engraving - a rotary bit machine is used to cut away portions of plastic or metal to form the name and/or logo being placed on the plate or badge. A sheet of plastic with an upper and lower color are used. The engraver cuts thru the top layer exposing the second color on the bottom layer, thus for example giving you a red background with white letters. This normally leaves small ridges in the engraved area if it is larger then the bit being used.

2. Sublimation - the name and/or logo is printed on a clear material and then bonded to a plastic or metal backing. This is perfect print or logo reproduction as seen from a laser printer. It is normally less expensive then engraving because it requires less time.

3. Laser Engraving - A laser is used to burn the name and/or logo into the backing material. As with Mechanical Engraving, a two color plastic is normally used. However, since the laser is burning very small pixels from the material it does not have the ribbed appearance in large areas which the mechanical engraver gives. If the name plate is being engraved directly into wood rather then on a piece of plastic the laser is far superior to the mechanical engraver since it does not tend to leave the rough edges in wood that a mechanical engraver does

Name Badges:

We recommend magnetic backs and rounded corners on all name tags. This decreases damage to the clothing and increases comfort for the wearer, thus increasing the likelihood of personnel wearing the badges.

Name Badges: are plastic, printed or engraved and normally range from:
1 inch from top to bottom and 2.5 inches left to right      TO:
1.5 inches from top to bottom and 3 inches from left to right
depending on the number of lines and whether they have a logo or not. They can be any size and shape you require.

Name Badges worn on clothing come with one of five methods of attaching the badge.
Normally, only 1 - 3 are used on hard plastic badges. The other two are usually used on laminated name cards.

1.  Magnetic Back

4.  Alligator Clip Back

2.  Pin Back

5.  Swivel Clip Back

3. Clutch Back
